Villeneuve set to compete in World RallyCross

Former Formula One driver Jacques Villeneuve will compete in all 12 rounds of the FIA World RallyCross championship, according to reports in Canadian media.

The move looks set to be his first full season of top-level racing since 2005 when he competed in F1 with Sauber. The 1997 world champion has competed in NASCAR, Speedcar, V8 Supercars and the 24 hours of Le Mans since leaving F1 part way through the 2006 season but has not had a full time seat since he partnered Felipe Massa nine years ago.

Villeneuve is not the only high profile name to take part in the new world championship, with X Games gold medalists Liam Doran and Toomi Heikkenen, as well as 2003 WRC champion Petter Solberg all committing to the series.
