Sandell finally breaks duck in Detroit


Patrik Sandell finally delivered on the speed he’s shown all season long by taking his first win of the season at the second day of the Red Bull Global Rallycross double header event in Detroit.

The second half of the year’s second of four double header events had a sense of de ja vu about it as once again, Sandell took victory in his semi-final.

Block takes record equalling win in Detroit

Ken Block made it three wins out of five in 2015, taking advantage of Patrik Sandell’s misfortune to win the first race of the Red Bull Global Rallycross double header event in Detroit.

It could have been so different however, with Sandell – once again the fastest car in the field – looking set to claim his first win of the season, only for a mechanical failure to take him out of the final in the closing stages, handing the victory to Ken Block.

Red Bull Global Rallycross heads to Detroit this weekend for the second double header event of the season with the Ford teams all looking to secure a home win for the Blue Oval as the series makes its first visit to Motor City.

A Phrase Used All Too Often...

'A future world champion'; it's a phrase we hear a lot these days. It seems as if whenever a driver sets a purple sector time these days he or she is branded a future world champion. Rarely does it happen, however. What once probably meant a great deal is now something of a throwaway comment meaning half decent driver.

It some cases through, it does mean something. In once case in particular, it was seen as a dead cert.

Olsbergs MSE once again showed strong pace at the last round of the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross season but mixed fortunes for their pair of Scandinavian star drivers saw the team leave MCAS New River without a points haul to match.
