Davide Rigon Interview
Dominik Wilde: Firstly, how would you describe your 2015 season in the WEC?
Davide Rigon: In 2014 I learned a lot and I came prepared in 2015 and performed strongly in both qualifying and the races. I'm happy with my performance, but in terms of results we got less than we wanted.
Dominik Wilde: You have a new team mate for 2016, how much are you looking forward to having Sam Bird on the team?
Davide Rigon: I am very happy to share the new Ferrari 488 with Sam. He's a very fast driver with extensive experience in the FIA WEC. A it will be a challenge and an important stimulus for both.
Dominik Wilde: With Toni Vilander moving over to America you now become one of the two most experienced GT drivers in your team, does that come with more responsibility?
Davide Rigon: It does not change much. Of course I'll have to use all my experience to improve new car.
Dominik Wilde: You will race a new car in 2016, how does the 488GTE compare to the old 458?
Davide Rigon: It's hard to tell now. For sure the Ferrari 488 is a step in right direction. The car was born very well, but we must wait for the comparison with other manufacturers to understand our real potential.
Dominik Wilde: Ferrari is the only one of the current manufacturers with a brand new car for 2016, do you think that will give you an advantage over Porsche and Aston Martin?
Davide Rigon: The whole team, Ferrari and Michelotto staff, are very excited about the new Ferrari 488, but they must comply with the Balance of Performance. We must wait for the first race to see.
Dominik Wilde: Ford are back too with their new car, what are your thoughts on racing against them this season?
Davide Rigon: I am very happy that now there is a major manufacturer like them. It will be difficult fight. Both myself and the whole team will be pushing strongly to beat them.
Dominik Wilde: What are your expectations for 2016? You had a really strong run of podiums with James Calado last year, do you think you and Sam will be championship contenders?
Davide Rigon: To be honest I am very positive for this season . I hope I can fight for the championship with Sam.
Dominik Wilde: And finally a question about the Formula One team. After a strong 2015, how do you think Scuderia Ferrari will perform in 2016?
Davide Rigon: Everybody in the team is working a lot to get a very competitive car for 2016. However only the track can tell if the work made at the factory is that good. We have to wait for the first test before we can say something more.
