Motorbase plan three car assault on '14 BTCC

Motorbase have revealed plans to run three NGTC spec Ford Focuses in next years british Touring Car Championship.

The Kent squad have already sold one of their three Focuses to AmD but team boss Dave Bartrum confirmed that another car is on the way.

"We have three TOCA BTCC Licences and we will be using them. We are currently building another car.

Despite confirming no drivers, it is thought that race winners Mat Jackson and Aron Smith will both return to the team next season.

This news comes after the team also announced they would be switching from Porsche to Aston martin in the British GT.

The team took the championship in 2012 with Michael Caine and Ahmed Al Harthy behind the wheel of a Porsche but with the German manufacturer's focus on GTE and LMP, Bartrum belived it was the right time to change.

“It was time for us to take on a new challenge and the Aston Martin is a very strong GT3 car at the moment,” said Bartrum. “The people at Aston Martin were very keen for us to build a new two-car team. The car showed excellent form in 2013 and we’ve watched it with great interest.
