Red Bull Global Rallycross heads to the Sunshine State

Red Bull Global Rallycross kicks off the second half of the championship this weekend with a visit south to Daytona International Speedway for the sixth round of the season.

The Florida venue, synonymous with stock car and sports car racing, will play host to the series' longest track so far this season as well as the biggest field of drivers since X Games Austin.

Nelson Piquet Jr. goes into the event as the series points leader although he is still in search of his first win of the season. Scott Speed will be looking to close the gap to the Brazilian after three tough rounds. The former F1 star won the first two races of the season but has not returned to the podium since.

Both Piquet and Speed, along with Steve Arpin, are the only drivers to have raced at Daytona before, with this weekend being Red Bull Global Rallycross' first visit to 'The World Center of Racing'.

Another First for Red Bull GRC will happen at Daytona with two Chevrolet entries taking to the track for the first time in the series' history. Sarah Burgess and Pat Moro, returning for the first time since X Games, with both be behind the wheel of Chevrolet Sonics.

Elsewhere, Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross will continue to field a pair of Polos with the long awaited debut of their new Beetle now set to be next year.
