Alex Zanardi will return to the cockpit for the first time since 2009, contesting a full campaign in the Blancpain Sprint Series.The Italian's last full season of racing was with BMW in the World Touring Car season. Since then he's competed in hand cycling events, winning two gold and one silver medals in the 2012 London Paralympic games.
He will run a BMW Z4 GT3 in the series formerly known as the FIA GT series. His car will be adapted with hand controls which he used in his touring car days after loosing his legs in a CART crash in 2001.
As well as racing, he will continue to prepare for a Paralympic return in Rio in2016.
