Thousands attend Historic Minardi Day at Imola

Thousands of fans were at Imola last weekend for the first Historical Minardi day, a celebration of the popular former-Formula One team.

Over fifty Formula One cars from Minardi, successor Toro Rosso, Ferrari and more filled the paddock of the former San Marino Grand Prix venue along with several Formula 2, Formula 3, and F3000 cars.

Several ex-drivers were also at Imola, with the likes of Giancarlo Fisichella, Pier Luigi Martini, Gianni Morbidelli, Jarno Trulli, Tarso Marques, Adrian Campos, and Pedro Lamy, along with engineers Gabriele Tredozi and Aldo Costa and team founder Gian Carlo Minardi amongst the guests in attendance.

"I am satisfied and touched. A day devoted to sport and to fans where I had the pleasure to see again many drivers who have wrote, with me, important pages of the Minardi Team history," said Gian Carlo Minardi. "The strong feedback of the audience with a great participation both in grandstand and in the paddock is the most beautiful side."

"I was glad to see the paddock animated by many young people. I got moved when, along with all the drivers, I greeted the people in the central grandstand," he added. "The Historic Minardi Day has been the occasion to retrace 30 years of passion. It is surely an experience to repeat. I must thank everybody for their warm welcome".
