Record Breaker Foust wins at Daytona

Tanner Foust claimed a record breaking sixth Red Bull Global Rallycross main event win in race one of the first double header weekend of the season at Daytona International Speedway

The race saw a trying weekend for Foust turn into triumph as he won the final from Austin Dyne and Sebastian Eriksson.

Starting the final from pole, Bryan Herta Rally Sport driver Patrik Sandell hoped to banish the gremlins that have effected his season so far but contact with Ken Block on the opening lap took both out of contention and allowed Foust to leapfrog from the second row of the grid to a commanding lead.

Sandell's team mate Dyne settled into second place with the Olsbergs pairing of Eriksson and 2014 champion Joni Wiman dicing for the final podium spot behind.

A pass on the Kobalt Tools Joker Lap allowed Eriksson to snatch third from Wiman and challenge for second. The 2014 RallyX Scandinavia champion then closed in on second place, a last gasp run for the flag from Dyne stopping him from holding the position.

The pair crossed the line together in a photo-finish, separated by just 0.23 seconds.

Joni Wiman held station, finishing in fourth place with Steve Arpin rounding out the top five. Arpin's team mate, Jeff Ward finished in sixth with Nelson Piquet Jr. in seventh.

Ken Block got going again after his opening lap incident, eventually finishing in eighth place and on three wheels. Patrik Sandell was classified ninth despite not finishing the final.
