BMW claim DTM title in their return season

Ask anyone at the start of the year and they would not have predicted this. BMW, competing in their first DTM season in 20 years.

Going into this weekend's season finale, Canada's Bruno Spengler went into the race at Hockenheim second favourite to British Mercedes driver Gary Paffett. Audi were surprisingly out of the question for the drivers title but were still in with a chance with the manufacturers title.

Paffett struggled at the start whilst BMW drivers Agusto Farfus, Joey Hand and and Bruno Spengler got away well. Spendler later took the lead and was to keep it 'til the end of the race. Paffett was to fight back to second place but it was not enough. Spengler won the race and the title.

BMW Team Schnitzer won the Teams' title and while BMW clinched the Manufacturers Championship, completing a remarkable comeback for the Munich manufacturer.
